01About Our Products

Teqlogy manufactures and distributes WiFi-enabled smart home and industrial IoT devices. Our current product lineup includes:

  • PowerMatrix-8 — An 8-channel smart relay controller that connects to your home's WiFi network and allows you to remotely control lights, fans, appliances, and other electrical loads from your smartphone or voice assistant.
  • EnergyMate-3 — A 3-phase smart energy meter that monitors real-time power consumption (voltage, current, power factor, frequency, kWh) and reports data to the TeqHome cloud platform.

These devices are designed to integrate with the Google Home ecosystem, allowing control via the Google Home app and Google Assistant voice commands. They communicate with the Teqlogy cloud over encrypted HTTPS/WebSocket connections.

02Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

2.1 Account Information

  • Name and email address when you create an account
  • Password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store plain-text passwords)
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Google account information if you use Google Sign-In (name, email, profile photo)

2.2 Device Information

  • Device name, type, and identifier (Device ID)
  • WiFi network name (SSID) — not your WiFi password
  • Firmware version and hardware revision
  • Device online/offline status and last-seen timestamp
  • IP address of device (local network, used only for direct-LAN fallback)

2.3 Usage & Automation Data

  • Relay state changes (on/off events) with timestamps
  • Timer schedules and automation rules you create
  • Scene configurations and activation history
  • Energy readings: voltage, current, active power, power factor, frequency, kWh
  • Device command logs (who sent a command and when)

2.4 App & Usage Data

  • Mobile device type, OS version, and app version
  • App usage analytics (screens visited, feature usage frequency)
  • Crash reports and error logs for stability improvement
  • Push notification token (for device alerts)

2.5 Network & Location

  • Approximate location (city/region level) derived from IP address, used only for regional service delivery and fraud prevention
  • Precise location is only accessed if you explicitly grant permission and only used for WiFi device discovery on your local network (required by Android for WiFi scanning)

03Smart Home & IoT Device Data

As a smart home device manufacturer, we collect operational data from connected devices to provide remote control, automation, and monitoring services. Here is exactly what we collect and why:

Data TypePurposeRetention
Relay on/off stateReal-time control & Google Home sync90 days
Energy readings (V, A, W, kWh)Energy monitoring dashboard12 months
Command historyAudit log & automation triggers90 days
Device online statusConnectivity monitoring30 days
Timer/scene configsAutomation executionUntil deleted
OTA firmware metadataUpdate delivery30 days post-update

No audio or video data is ever collected. Our devices do not contain microphones or cameras. Voice commands are processed entirely by Google Assistant and only the resulting device command (e.g., “turn relay 1 on”) is forwarded to our platform.

We do not use device data for advertising. Smart home operational data is used solely to operate, maintain, and improve the TeqHome platform.

We do not use your data to train AI or machine learning models without your explicit opt-in consent.

04Google Home Integration

TeqHome devices are certified to work with the Google Home ecosystem. When you link your TeqHome account to Google Home, the following applies:

4.1 Data Shared with Google

  • Device name, type, and traits (e.g., “Switch”, “Light”, “Outlet”)
  • Current state of each device (on/off, energy readings where applicable)
  • State change reports sent to Google Home when a device state changes

4.2 Data Received from Google

  • Execute commands (turn on/off, toggle) initiated from Google Home app or Google Assistant
  • SYNC requests to refresh device list
  • QUERY requests to check current device state

4.3 Google Home API Data Handling

  • We comply with Google Home Developer Policies. Data received via Google Home APIs is used solely to operate the integration and is not shared with third parties or used for advertising.
  • State data reported to Google Home is retained for no more than 10 days in our system before being purged from Google Home sync caches.
  • When you unlink your TeqHome account from Google Home, we revoke the OAuth token and stop sending state updates to Google within 24 hours.

4.4 OAuth & Account Linking

TeqHome uses OAuth 2.0 for Google Home account linking. We store only the refresh token and user ID — we do not store your Google account password. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account security settings or from the TeqHome app.

05How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the platform — Process commands, sync device states, execute automations and timers
  • Provide remote access — Relay commands between the mobile app/Google Home and your devices over the internet
  • Send notifications — Alert you when a device goes offline, a timer fires, or an automation triggers
  • Deliver OTA firmware updates — Securely push firmware improvements to your devices over WiFi
  • Monitor energy usage — Display real-time and historical energy data in the app dashboard
  • Improve the product — Analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to improve reliability and add features
  • Customer support — Diagnose device connectivity issues and respond to support requests
  • Security — Detect unauthorized access, verify device identity, and prevent abuse

We will not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We will not use smart home device data for any purpose unrelated to providing and improving the TeqHome service without your explicit consent.

06Data Sharing & Third Parties

We share information only in the following circumstances:

6.1 Service Providers

  • Firebase (Google) — Push notifications (FCM), crash reporting, and app analytics. Data processed under Google's privacy policy.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — Our backend servers are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. Providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

6.2 Google Home Platform

Device state and command data is shared with Google as required to operate the Google Home integration. This is governed by the Google Home Developer Policies and Google's Privacy Policy.

6.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

6.4 Business Transfer

If Teqlogy is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

07Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Specific retention periods:

  • Account data — Retained until you delete your account
  • Device operational logs — 90 days rolling window
  • Energy monitoring data — 12 months of historical readings
  • Automation & timer configs — Until you delete them
  • Google Home sync state — Maximum 10 days in sync cache
  • Crash/error logs — 30 days
  • Deleted account data — Permanently purged within 30 days of deletion request

Anonymized, aggregated statistics (e.g., “total relay activations per day”) may be retained indefinitely as they cannot identify individual users.

08Data Security

We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit — All communication between the app, cloud, and devices uses TLS 1.2 or higher (HTTPS and WSS)
  • Authentication — JWT (JSON Web Tokens) with short expiry for API access; refresh tokens stored securely
  • Password hashing — Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a salt; plain-text passwords are never stored
  • Device identity — Each device authenticates to the cloud using a unique device certificate or token
  • OTA security — Firmware updates are cryptographically signed and verified on the device before installation
  • Access controls — Role-based access control separates user, device, and admin permissions
  • Infrastructure security — Regular security audits, dependency updates, and monitoring for suspicious activity

While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at hello@teqlogy.com.
